+ Counter-Strike: Source game servers from NFOservers
Counter-Strike: Source is a version of the popular game "Counter-Strike" that has been modified to run on the Source engine, which was created for the game "Half-Life: 2". The Source engine allows enhanced graphics and other features over the old Half-Life engine. CS:S was developed by Valve after it bought the Counter-Strike franchise from the original mod authors. It has been slowly replacing CS 1.6 as the gold standard for team play in leagues.
Unlike HL1-based games such as Counter-Strike 1.6, but like other Orangebox-based games, CS:S has a target tickrate (the number of world updates per second) that is locked at 66, and which matches the target FPS. ( The tickrate can also be unofficially increased to 100 tick with a plugin.)
We offer two acceleration levels for CS:S. The "hyperacceleration" level originally meant an FPS of 500 (before the tickrate was locked to the FPS in 2012); now, it means that we run the server on Windows. The "ultraacceleration" level originally meant an FPS of 2000 or higher; now, it means that we run the server on Linux, allowing it to benefit from our "FPS Locker" technology, which reduces jitter and allows for more a consistently high realized FPS/tickrate.
CS:S supports addons out-of-the-box, and recognizes them based on the existence and contents of ".vdf" files in its "addons" folder. Popular plugins include Metamod:Source and Sourcemod, Mani Mod, and EventScripts. These or other plugins (along with special maps and other customizations) can easily be uploaded to our servers through the full FTP access we provide, and we also have autoinstallers for them.
